UPDATE
Oxford Street assault suspect arrested in Boston
By Noah Bruce
Emanuel Daviega, the man who was indicted last month on charges of unlawful sexual contact for assualting a woman at the Oxford Street Shelter, was arrested on March 6 at a homeless shelter in Boston, reports PPD’s Lieutenant Joseph Loughlin. Daviega decided not to wave his right to extradition, which means that Portland police officers must now get a governor’s office warrant to retrieve the man from Massachusetts, so he can stand trial in Maine. Loughlin says the process should take about a month and in the meantime Daviega will remain in jail in Boston. If he is convicted on the charge of unlawful sexual contact class B, a felony, Daviega could face up to 10 years in prison.
