City to decide on Scotia Prince

By Noah Bruce

City Council will soon make a decision on where to move the Scotia Prince. A few months ago, it was considered a done deal that the ferry boat, and the customs facility and parking lot that go with it, would be moved from their current location on the International Marine Terminal to the BIW site on the East End.

However, public outcry against the change forced the council to consider other alternatives. ICON, the consulting group hired by the city to study alternatives, will present their findings Wednesday June 27, in Merrill Auditorium Rehearsal Hall at 6 p.m.

On Monday, July 2, at 4 p.m., ICON will present their findings at a City Council workshop. Then on July 16, at 6 p.m., the city will decide whether to abandon their current plans or continue down the BIW path.

Truth be told, chances that the city will change its mind are slim, but if you care about where the Scotia Prince goes speak now or forever put a sock in it.
