SPREAD THE WEALTH
I am a 27-year-old resident of Portsmouth, NH, who happens to work as a chef at a local upscale restaurant. I must admit that it really struck a nerve with me when you referenced Pesce Blue as more or less a trendy solution to a stale restaurant scene in Portsmouth. Have you been to any one of our upscale restaurants? The Library at Rockingham, Lindberghs, 43 Degrees North, Bella Luna, the Metro, or a handful of other fine restaurants in town have excellent food, as well as the traditional ambiance of historic Portsmouth. Now, I had dinner at the Pesce Blue, and I can’t say that it was bad by any means, but I had expected much more after reading your article. The atmosphere was really cool, the service was good, but the food seemed partially mediocre compared to some other places in town.
I feel I can speak on behalf of most of the restaurant employees in town that work at these nice restaurants when I say that you unfairly overlooked some really great dining experiences. So, to fix this conflicting opinion, I would like to invite you to dine at my restaurant, and all I ask for in return is a fair review. Once again, nothing against Pesce Blue, but please give credit where credit is due!
