THIS IS AMERICA
Miami cops get nasty

STORM TROOPER: Those who showed up to protest deliberations over the Free Trade of the Americas Act met stiff opposition last week. Reports have come in documenting police intentions to search, harass, and arrest first, and ask questions later. Seeing this cop, it’s no wonder Miami Police Chief John Timoney was quoted in the South Florida Sun-Sentinel saying: "We’ll try to do as many arrests as we can. If we don’t lock ’em up tonight, we’ll lock ’em up tomorrow." Curious as to where they got the funding for the riot gear? Look no further than the $87 billion dollar Iraq appropriations bill. Buried inside was a nice little $8.5 million for Miami police and security operations.
