RALLY UP
Pissed Off pledging
BY SAM PFEIFLE

You know about January 20, right? That’s Inauguration Day, folks, and people all over the country are planning rallies to protest what they see as a trumped-up election and the continuance of a reprehensible Bush administration (no comment here — we’re objective). Many in Maine will be traveling to Washington, DC, to protest Bush in person, but if you’re staying local, there are options in Portland, too.

The League of Pissed Off Voters, Peace Action Maine, Common Cause, Democracy for America, and a few other fine progressive organizations are hosting a rally January 20, from noon to 1 p.m., in Portland’s Monument Square. There and then, you can, with other Maine progressives, take an oath to "work smarter during the next four years."

The labors of 2004 will be remembered and honored, and new dedication will be put forth in making Maine and the United States a better place. Plus, there’ll be a bunch of those drummer guys.
