Yes, the rumors are true: Shawn Jeffrey, long known to rock-radio WCYY listeners as the Facemelter, has left town. For 18 years, Jeffrey has been working in local radio, and for the lengthy recent past he has been a vital link to the local music scene with his Thursday-night radio show, " Spinout. " Mixing local songs with live, in-studio guests and performances, Jeffrey had great taste and was all-inclusive, as likely to headbang with Twisted Roots as mellow out with Subject Bias. But Jeffrey, while on a WCYY promotion involving urban adventure, found love. And that love lives in Alaska. So up he roots, and off he moves, turning " Spinout " over to Beautiful Locals creator Mark Curdo. " I’m leaving the show in capable hands, " says Jeffrey. We agree, but there will always be only one Facemelter.
