Geno’s is dead; long live Geno’s

The last show at Portland’s underground institution Geno’s will be on March 20, with The Marvels, Big Meat Hammer, The Pontiffs, and Joe Mazzari Band. As we all know, Geno’s has fallen victim to the gentrification of the building above it, which in its imminent reincarnation as luxury "artist" condominiums has no place for a homey little dive bar. Apparently the new space is lined up, and the unconfirmed word is that Portland music lovers can look for a reborn Geno’s sharing space with the Stadium sports bar a block east on Congress.
