Most cognizant folks know of Reindeer Records, that label for Maine’s youth that puts on the successful Reindeer Rock-Off each year. Few may remember, however, the coexistent Reindeer Theater Company, another passion of owner Louis Philippe’s that has been on hiatus for the past few years as Philippe searched for an appropriate home for the recently traveling company. Well, Reindeer Theater has come home again, signing a lease agreement with its first-ever home, Warren Memorial Library in Westbrook. Warren recently renovated their 84-seat upstairs performance space, and now stage, lights, and a baby grand are available for Reindeer’s use. So what will Reindeer perform? More of the same family-friendly fare: musicals, plays for young adults, musical revues for adults who like cabaret, that kind of thing. Currently, Reindeer have performances of a British children’s adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood scheduled for April 29 through May 7, along with a music revue, a British comedy for teens, and a "light-hearted drama" going out through November. "Reindeer’s mission statement may be similar to other groups’ in terms of providing artistic and creative experiences, but our all-embracing low-barrier philosophy is what makes RTC unique," says Philippe in a release announcing their new home. "Our slant is less on product and more on process." For information on getting involved, call (207) 857-9002.
