Remember the Divine Maggees? The fiddle/guitar gal duo? Well, it looks like they’re calling themselves divineMAGees now. Cregan reports that the pair are down in Asheville, NC, now, and have just release the first single, appropriately titled "North Carolina," from their upcoming full-length, Love Me Like the Roses. The album will be out in the fall, and they’re bringing in LA producer Mark Mazzetti to twirl knobs on it.

Looking for Al Hawkes? Worried he’s fled the state now that he’s sold his Hawkes Plaza (complete with the repair-man sign)? Not to fret: He’s got his new Americana Trio all revved up, with Al Doane on bass and guitarist Corey Bonnevie, who’s just come up from Raleigh, North Carolina (where he may have been hanging with the Maggees, we suppose). If for some reason you’re not at Best Music Poll, you can catch the Trio at Chicky’s on May 14.
