Fan of Beautiful Locals? Dan Skolnik and Headlight Management are planning a similar project that would feature jam and rootsy bands (Sly Chi, Jerks of Grass, Five Foot Ficus) doing a similar thing — namely, covering other local bands. Skolnik says he hopes to have the project ready for December. Ask Mark Curdo about the work involved. He’ll tell you it’s immense. Ask Curdo how psyched he is to have somebody riffing on his idea of Portland bands covering other Portland bands. Well, the "Sibilance" staff will let him tell you.

What’s up with all these "residencies" lately? The month of June will see Boston band Averi shacking up at the Big Easy for weekly gigs and Portsmouth locals the Whatnot filling up the Press Room with weekly gigs. The Whatnot will be joined each week by a different local act with whom they plan to collaborate: Adam Flaherty Noise Machine on June 1, then One Hand Free’s Andrew Blowen, a mystery guest, Jon Nolan, and Duncan Watt over the next four Wednesdays.

In case you missed it, Maranacook High School’s O.R.B.I.T.S. took home the 21st Reindeer Rock-Off prize as best high-school band in the state. Congrats from the "Sibilance" staff.
