Jimmy Peterson’s at it again. The man who’s got the old-school cred of Jim’s Bar & Grill on his resume, and who recently made a go of it with Jim’s, a pizza joint that morphed into Blue on upper Congress Street, still isn’t done with the local music scene. Peterson now has plans for Live at Jim’s, a local-music television program that he’s looking to start up on channel 5 this summer. No, not Community Television Network 4, but rather channel 5, the Time Warner channel, because that we he can sell advertising sponsorships, he says. Look for live performances, in-studio guests, and weekly scene reports. "It’ll be just like FACE Magazine," says Peterson, "but on video."

Micah Blue Smaldone, who this column didn’t realize used to be a member of the fairly hip, but now defunct Shods, just finished up a cool New England mini-tour with the Scratch Revival Singers. Great combo, that. Also, Micah’s put together a four-song sampler CDR you can buy at www.northeastindie.com. It’s a preview of his soon-to-be-released sophomore album, Hither and Thither.

Looking for something to do on Tuesday nights? Starting in July, Five Foot Ficus will be holding down the Alehouse on Tuesdays for the remainder of the summer. It’s all an effort to build momentum for a big CD release, which they’ve got scheduled for August 15. They’re currently in the studio with one Peter Morse, an engineer with a studio on Freeport. Don’t say you didn’t have the opportunity to check this band out.

Hmmm. Could it be that ingénue Chris Moulton, former lead singer for In the Arms of Providence, a band that burned brightly but quickly, might just like final shows? ITAOP played more than one gig billed as "the last show ever," and now Moulton’s new project, Why Hello, co-fronted by former Even All Out frontman Billy Libby, have played their "final show ever," this past Saturday, June 25, at the Westbrook American Legion. Is it for real? Do Moulton or Libby have new projects in the works? "Sibilance" staffers are on the case.

"Sibilance" staffers now have a copy of Paranoid Social Club’s self-titled debut full-length for ON entertainment, tagged with an official release date of August 23. It’s been newly mixed by Jon Kaplan, but the tracks all seem to be those basically laid down for Axis II and Axis III & I. Track listing is as follows: "The Cable Hookup," "Two Girls," "Gangster," "Evolution," "Rhythm Is," "Wasted," "Chocolate," "Save Me," "Lunatic," "Headphones," "Music Man," "She Gets Me High," and "Theme Song." Basically, a split between Axis II and Axis III, with Axis I just a memory. Things are definitely happening for PSC, though. They’ve got a kicking new Web site at www.pscmusic.com and they’re playing San Jose’s Discover Meadow Park this week, July 3, as part of 104.9’s Day on the Meadow. And "Two Girls" is now getting significant country-wide airplay.

While you’re waiting for jdwalker’s Them Get You, Them Got You to actually drop (there’s a delay in the pipeline somewhere), you can catch him, along with Nomar Slevik, on Subversiv’s Offbeats Vol. 2 compilation — which also features the Escape Artist, Awol One, Existereo, Josh Martinez, Dday One, and more — and on Beyond Space Vol. 2, A Guide to Burning Bridges, which features Slug, Bleubird, Josh Martinez, K-the-I???, and more. That’s a lot of compiling.

Finally, be on the lookout for these three CD-release shows this week: Loki, at the Alehouse, July 3, with the Perfectionists and Stars Look Down; Porter, at the Stone Church, July 6, with the Screen; and Dan Knudsen, at Granny’s Burritos, July 10.
