The Adam Flaherty Noise Machine is the Casio keyboard of Portland’s indie rock. They have so many buttons: big buttons, little buttons, faster/slower, higher/lower, deeper/harder, something-for-everything, time-to-experiment, turn on/turn off buttons! There’s a Modest Mouse–circa-five-years-ago button. There’s a Neutral Milk Hotel–lost-in-the-background-sound button, a Green Day–Dookie-add-some-teen-angst button, a Violent Femmes–"Blister in the Sun" button, a jump-around/turn-around–Rocky Horror Picture Show button, an under-the-surface-art-rock button, a nothing-but-noise button, and, of course, a giant dial to turn up the volume and the sass. The Adam Flaherty Noise Machine come in several colors: black, white, blue, red, and now, special edition Best Music Poll gold. It’s fun to play with, and this baby comes with big, BIG sound (batteries sold separately). Runners up: Subject Bias, Seekonk
